aexcea's DAPT 2D to 3D stereoscopic conversion process offers our highest quality and most realistic 3D conversion possible. This is achieved through the use of proprietary in-house techniques and the latest technologies available in depth analysis and restoration.
The objective of any 2D to 3D stereoscopic conversion process is to provide a high quality conversion with a high level of accuracy. To achieve this, artists perform a manual conversion on a frame by frame basis, employing many complex techniques.
Without revealing too much, the DAPT process begins with a detailed depth analysis of every single frame of your project. Supervising artists perform a depth determination on each object and subject within the frame to determine what is needed for the most accurate and enjoyable stereoscopic 3D experience possible. Through rotoscoping, the shot is broken down into its basic "depth elements" and then mapped and projected onto geometry planes in true 3D space. Real parallax is added via a left and right "eye" perspective, lending the converted image a realistic depth experience that gives the audience a sense of being able to look and reach around the 3D objects and subjects.
DAPT is a complex process that yields an extremely high quality conversion. It is ideally suited for feature films, television series and shows, cinema/theatrical projection, and high-end commercials for both High Definition broadcast and theatrical projection.
